Metacore, a mobile game company based in both Helsinki and Berlin, is creating world-class entertainment by building a portfolio of hit games. Applications are now open for the Press Play trainee program, and we are offering two aspiring QA Specialists the chance to help shape hit mobile games.
Responsibilities
As a QA Specialist, you play a key role in championing quality assurance initiatives with the game development team to help guarantee world-class production quality of every release at Metacore. You will learn the role of a QA Specialist with the guidance of a mentor and get support from your team every step of the way!
In practice, this means (at least) the following:
- Manually testing new features, integrations, and services (e.g., SDKs, APIs), reporting bugs, and verifying fixes
- Developing test plans and test cases to verify that the game meets player expectations and our own high-level requirements
- Profiling and analysing the game, and conducting performance assessments that help guide developers to validate their efforts
- Working closely with the game development team and communicating actively with different stakeholders
What we’re looking for
Metacore welcomes individuals with a willingness to learn and a passion for creating engaging and immersive gaming experiences. Here are some of the key skills and experience you should already have when joining Metacore as a QA Specialist:
- Education background in technology or another related field
- Passion and a genuine interest in games and quality assurance
- Knack for solving problems, and doing it with a service-minded attitude and a collaborative communication style
- Strong and clear writing and reporting skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues effectively.
- Great communication skills – besides being able to give and take feedback or ask help, you are also not afraid to talk with different stakeholders about features, bugs, and potential risks in our games
- Willingness to take ownership, you can be trusted from the get go
- Proficiency in English, as its our company language
- Ability to work in Finland, mainly onsite from our Helsinki office
In addition, it would be nice but not mandatory for you to have some of these as well:
- Previous QA experience in software or game projects
- Interest in test automation and/or tooling
- Game development experience either from school, hobby projects or work
What you can expect from Metacore
Press Play by Metacore is for emerging talent who are eager to enter the mobile game industry. The program starts in September and offers you a 6 months full-time trainee position as part of Metacore’s Merge Mansion team. You’ll work onsite from our Helsinki office alongside experienced colleagues who are eager to share their knowledge and also learn from you. It’s a great opportunity to start your career in mobile games, and grow professionally. You’ll be employed directly by Metacore.
With continuous support from your mentor and team throughout the training period, you’ll gain valuable insight and practical skills. The position includes a monthly salary, as well as benefits such as lunch, commuting allowances, sports, wellbeing and culture perks on top.
